The universe is replete with diverse ways and means for pleasures and luxuries, and man is right in intellect and luxuries, and man is rich in intellect and power. Such a combination must create a Heaven on Earth. Then how could such a hell develop all around us? When we seriously think about this puzzle, we come to the conclusion that man has joined hands with baser side of life, by tuning his thoughts, ambitions, directions and faith to them without linking to high ideals.

 This single fault has made everything topsy-turvy.The low and mean thoughts force one to do acts of degradation and the joint effect of wicked intellect and wicked attitude makes this heavenly world a hell. The thoughts and attitudes of humanity create situations in tune to it. The naked dance of destruction and violence that is seen all around is the result of the development of the demonic attitudes in the masses. It is not right to think that lack of money or tools make an unhappy situation. If it so, all the rich and people having means, would have been happy. But it is seen that with riches, immense worries are also linked. The saints and great souls who live in poor conditions without any means have proved and showed to humanity that if there is a healthy change in the view point of man, even with very limited physical means, one can live a happy and worthy life. In reality to live a comfortable life the wants are very minimum and these can be very easily obtained. Unsatisfied desires and anxiety is the result of negative thoughts and ambitions. This is called ignorance (maya) and darkness etc., When these unwanted and undesirable demonic principles are respected, man becomes to the same extent worried and down-trodden.

The basis of all these troubles and deformations is only one. If only man can develop idealism and can mould his qualities, actions and character he can amass such huge physical riches and successes that not only his, but the needs of many others can be fulfilled. The man, who has spiritual and noble qualities, will be happy and satisfied and also will keep his friends and relatives in a happy mood. As the intellectual deformations are corrected and spiritual qualities are awakened, to that extent man and the society will be free from sorrowful situations, and the doors will be opened to an environment of peace and prosperity.

How quickly and how deeply one understands this fact, the possibility of solving th4 present complexities and living in an atmosphere of peace and happiness will be made possible. We will have to attack the most important front, all our attempts must be directed towards those means and ways, which influence and mould human thought attitudes and faith. Thoughts, is one of the greatest powers. It is such a great power that the sum total of all powers in the world can not equal it. Misuse of this power can destroy the world, and it's proper use is capable of giving new life to the world. If we can understand this fact properly, we will take more precautions and organize ourselves towards the proper care of the thoughts, than we do for the atomic bombs. Man who is so tiny and puny, when compared physically with many other animals and living being is said to be the leader of the universe. The credit goes to his ability to think. The proper utilization of the thought- power, gave him numerous facilities, machines, riches and successes. The entire history of human progress sings the glory of his thought - power. Where-ever and whenever this power has been utilized properly, there torrents of riches and plenty seem to pour upon the society and whenever this power is misused, the clouds of depends, whatever time and ability are spent for it s organization and protection, will always be less.

The most disastrous error that happened in the recent past is that the key which influences the thought-power gives the directions to emotions has gone to those hands to which it should not have gone. If the box of gunpowder is handed over to children, the sword is given to monkey, powerful medicines are administered by a quack, the treasuries handed over to a mad person, naturally, and the results will be simply disastrous. Influencing thoughts is such an important work that the entire future and destiny of the world rests on it.

Therefore the right to utilize this power must be given to tested administrators or saints. In the ancient days, this right was given to those saints and brahmins, who proved their worth in the fire of eligibility. They used their writing s and power of speech with great care and always were involved in giving a healthy direction to public opinion by the means of arts, music and literature. Development, nurturing of various institutions which is dedicated for creative activities, development of noble attitudes, and preparing people to fight for a noble cause was in their safe hands. Education was in their hands and all the means that are to be utilized to give direction to public opinion was handed over to their safe hands. Until this system was continued the whole world was enveloped in an environment of heaven where peace and happiness reigned. But when the medium of influencing thoughts has been taken over by inefficient persons, began utilizing them for their selfish interests, the downfall of humanity started. This is the single most serious fault. All our failures, sorrows, crimes, immoral ways, destructive attitudes and all those poisonous roots and creepers that are found every where, have their seeds in the immoral intellect going as t ray which has now become so wide spread by being in the hands of heinous people. To day, we see that mean, selfish and disgusting persons in the cover of organized freedom, utilizing immoral methods, have poisoned the various outlets of molding public opinion. The medium of press and printing are the most corrupted. In the last century the printing press was invented. The art of printing has multiplied the power of writing many times. In the ancient days books were written by hand and were read and taught in very limited circles. It was clubbed with high ideals and nobody dared to lift the pen to pollute the public opinion. What ever was written, read or heard was done keeping public-good in mind.

Now everything is reversed. Go and survey the book shops. Ask for the material that is being utilized for printing. Collect the manuscripts of writers. See what will be your findings about this vast body of means of influencing the thoughts, and why it is doing so. In all the activities of writing, printing, publishing and marketing the literature we find personal selfish interests working. May be we can condone if all this was done in pure selfish interest, but if in the bargain, animal instinct of readers and public are encouraged pushing them down hill, the act r e ally becomes unpardonable. The shock society gets due to looters, thieves, murderers is not so bad when compared to the selfish exploitation by spoiling public opinion. Thieves steal money. This causes depletion of money to the sufferer. This can be adjusted by earning more, using prudence and control over spending, and asking for the cooperation of others. Dacoits either inflict injuries or kill. The wounds heal in time and death gives new body. The family members in a very limited number suffer due to death. Thieves or dacoits can only inflict harm in a limited area. But those who though the medium of literature spread evil and animal tendencies have sowed the seeds of such a poisonous creeper, whose wicked influence effects innumerable persons and this contagion will pave way for such a mass destruction that the loss cannot be adjusted. thus when compared to a dacoit, a writer who creates literature without morals and scruples is more dangerous, because his intellect and activities have dug the spiritual and moral graves for numerous persons.

We see that almost two-thirds of this available literature has only the aim of catering to animal instincts of man, which can be easily exploited. People because they do have in their mental make up demonical and animal instincts like such literature. It is liked, asked, desired and bought. Therefore, seeing the demand, entrepreneurs, to make profits present such things so that sales may increase. The application of this principle to literature brings flood of unwanted low, mean, nauseating, awful and fearful books in an enterprise, which is dedicated only to excite the lower instincts of man, in which millions of rupees, the labor of millions of men, and the intellect of thousands is employed, in what else can it result? We are reaping the results.

The standard of public opinion is getting lower, baser, and meaner day by day. Except for the publication of books for schools and colleges, all other publications are literature which excites sexual instincts, misinterprets truth, spreads illusions, and caters to murderous tilting detection and mysteries which have no meaning. Rarely do we come across literature dealing with religion, morals, good behavior, true occultism and philosophy. Who is going to hear this small voice in the din of selfish interests? Cheap novels are printed in millions and soon sold away. In magazines, materials which excite sexual and baser instincts are gaining more and more place. It seems now, that the only utility of writing is to in flame the lower animal instincts of man, throwing him down the precipice and collecting money over the dead bodies, and fulfilling their selfish needs. Sometimes we may come across such noble writers, publishers and book sellers who cannot be clubbed with the above category but they are very rare.

After literature, come fine arts and music. Even these are overshadowed by the demons. After a long search you may find a few songs, which inspire, explain the meaning of life and its utility; develop faith and compassion, inspire the spirit of sacrifice and self immolation for a noble cause. Rarely do we find a collection of such songs. It seems as if these have been banned from the field of poetry as useless. Poets also are not interested to exert in this direction. The beloved is the only subject. Pierced by the eyes of the lover, engrossed in the music generated by her anklets, thirsty to drink the nectar of her lips, losing their senses in lust, are the subjects of present day poets. Only these are sold. They become famous and also earn money. Then who is going to assess the good or evil effects of these? When none is missing to make hay while sun shines, why should a poet miss it? The leadership of music is now taken over by film songs. On loud speakers we hear only these songs everywhere. From Ceylon radio to Delhi radio station these songs fill much of the time. Those who come out of cinema theaters are seen humming the throaty and sexy tunes sung by the dancers on the screen. In personal life of people, group singing, in musical conferences, festivals and other gatherings it is the film music and sounds which dominate the scene. Those who teach music play music and are surrendering to it. It seems that soon except film music nothing will remain in the field of music. One need not ask what type of emotions and feelings these songs cater to. The listener can decide for himself where these songs, music, and actions leading the public.

Cinema is the miracle of this era. It has captured in its domain all other means of entertainment. In the past, stage actors, street musician, puppeteers, and those who display the gimmicks of a bear or a monkey or a snake used to fulfill the need of public entertainment. There were also, dramas, action, dances and other cultural activities. There was interest in local songs Rama leela and Rasa Leela. All these are now slowly being forgotten. Much of the major share of public entertainment has been taken over by cinemas. People with talents are entering film industry and are ensnared in it. We find films which give the message of noble ideals and the glories of character and morals. Much is filled with those sentiments and feelings which degrade man, that too in a powerful and capturing way. Television has now displaced this.  If only the huge amount of money, man power and talents are utilized for the good of the public along with the main purpose of entertainment, it could have helped much, in lifting the life style and thinking of the masses. But when it is decided to misuse what else can we expect but destruction? The new generation is being emotionally guided by cinemas and society is being shaped by it.

 Fine arts have other division also. Drawing pictures is one. Those who draw, print and sell are in no way behind the others in no way behind the others in exploiting the baser instincts of man. The entire art seems now centered in disrobing female beauty. The photos of dancers and film artists are printed in such large number, that it seems that the reverence of the age is at their feet. We find such calendars in every house. The photo shops are full of them. Artists, printers, publishers, and salesmen are becoming rich on this alone. Nobody is worried what will be the effect of all this on physical, mental and moral health of the public by flaming their baser instincts by this sexual and indecent exposure through photos and art. What type of unwanted activities these may trigger in the society? It is a shame that even in the photos and paintings of Gods and Goddesses which should inspire devotion; one is not hesitating to put shades of indecency.

The three mediums-music, art and literature is together called Saraswathi. Saraswathi is the Goddess of man (mind). The controller of power is intellect and that which inspires intellect is Saraswathi. If the triple-medium of her is linked with unwanted and useless activities, all round destruction will be the result. Slowly humanity is nearing the tragic goal.

If the media which influence the public opinion are allowed to grow as they are at present as a means to nurture baser instincts and they are not stopped, corrected, and balanced our future is completely dark. This fact must be understood. If we really wish good for all, these trends which poison the public-opinion must be controlled which has brought Mother Saraswathi to a stage of a commodity to be sold in a market place.
